American fridge freezers and integrated fridge freezers are very similar when considering functionality. One and the other amalgamate a fridge and an icebox in a single unit, but the two diversify in additional ways. In this column I'll highlight the unique points and you can conclude which one is better for your habitat.

Domestic refrigerators date back to early 20th century, the first practical refrigerator was introduced in 1915 in America. But it was just in the 1930's that the fridges became a popular household device, funny enough it took 40 years for the apparatus to accomplish the same levels of penetration in the UK. Side by Side, also know as American Style Fridge Freezers were imported by a corporation called Amana in 1949 and Integrated Refrigerators (top fridge/bottom freezer style) came later in the middle of the 1950's.

that's the history lesson over, now lets look at the differences between these two fundamental household units.

Initially when purchasing a refrigerator is its energy efficiency. When it comes down to energy efficiency both versions of fridge freezer offer A+ energy ratings which shows a nice concern to the ecosphere by their creators.

Gone were the days when Frost Free was something refrigerator designers gobed about. So just for the record both styles are frost free.

Looks

Now is when the differences start to appear. An US Style Fridge Freezer has a more robust design, first because the refrigerator needs to be on one side and the freezer on the other. Just so you know the fridge is always on the right side while the freezer is on the left. They are available in a variety of colours: black, white, stainless steel and brushed steel.

American style fridge freezers are also known to have included in its doors, water and ice dispenser, two very useful utilities. Modern models are equipped with LED touch to command temperature and top of the range models come with on-board computers and wireless internet connection.

Integrated fridge freezers can be distinguished from the US Style for the simple fact that the fridge stays above while the freezer area is at the base. The doors can only be outfitted with water dispensers but they are also equipped with LED touch screens that allow you control temperature and other features.

Storage

American style fridge freezers surpass Integrated ones when the subject is storage, there is no need for further explanation. just take a look at them and you can see.

Room Space

Now here is what you have to consider before deciding which style to buy. Your kitchen size is the deciding factor, for example I wouldn't dream of buying an American style model for my tiny kitchen, it would take over the entire room.

On the other hand if you have a large kitchen that an American Style Fridge Freezer would fit, it could be the answer.

Valuation

American style fridges are approximately 700/1000 pounds on average while Integrated fridges range from 300-800 pounds depending on the manufacturers.

Summary

If you have the space in your kitchen I'd recommend you go with an American Style Fridge Freezer but if you are little short in cash, Even with room, an Integrated Refrigerator will also satisfy your needs and provide good storage space for all your food.
